The small but excel­lent asso­ciation “Favela Edu­cation” based in Düsseldorf has for the last 30 years taken up the cause of offer­ing chil­dren and young people from the favelas (slums) of Rio de Janeiro a humane exist­ence and a life worth liv­ing. The approach is to sup­port a small tar­get group of chil­dren over their entire school edu­cation, up to voca­tional ori­ent­ation or even busi­ness start-up. Since its estab­lish­ment the act­ive mem­bers of the asso­ciation have been driven by the concept of an intact envir­onment and the aware­ness that people are part of nature. So the young people learn the import­ance of biod­iversity in their daily life through fun and cre­ative activ­ities as part of the wide range of edu­cational sup­port provided by Favela Edu­cation.

We are happy that with the sup­port of the Aumund Found­ation Gab­riella and Andriel can now be accom­pan­ied on their way.
