FRIEDENSDORF-INTERNATION

This special funding partner has its headquarters very close to the Aumund Foundation. Friedensdorf [“Peace Village”] International, based in Dinslaken, provides medical aid and aftercare for sick and injured children from warzones and conflict regions, who cannot be treated in their home countries. During a site visit back in 2020 we were able to gain an insight into the organisation’s work and to see how around 90 children are cared for and looked after in a peaceful environment until they are fully recovered.

As well as individual aid in Germany, Friedensdorf is making a long-term and sustainable contribution to the improvement of medical care and education in various countries of the world.

For some years now we have been following reports about the “waste management social centre” in Battambang, Cambodia, and from 2025 we have been supporting the project financially. The social project is aimed at the children of garbage collector families who live among the gigantic piles of rubbish at the dump. More than 100 children between the ages of three and twelve are looked after in the social centre. They are provided with breakfast and lunch, helped with their homework and taught English.

With this targeted educational support many children from the garbage collector families have now been able to finish school and get a good start on their way to a self-determined life. Recreational activities are also offered, from which the children learn the social skills they need to get on in life. We are proud to be making our contribution to this cause.
