The association is based in Weimar and works not only to improve dental care in rural areas in the west of Kenya, but also focuses on arranging sponsorships in particular for orphaned children, for their school and vocational education.
This is where the Aumund Foundation gets involved. Since 2020 we have been funding scholarships for secondary school attendees, trainees in medical professions and, in accordance with the mission of the association, students of dental medicine. When we visited Kenya in October 2023 we had the opportunity to meet our scholarship recipients in person. We and the students were equally delighted to meet each other!
Our visit to the St. Michael Preparatory and Orphanage School in Koliech on this trip had far-reaching consequences. The impact of the impressions gained led to our decision to finance the eagerly awaited conversion of the school into a boarding school, which will enable approximately 150 orphaned children from the area to attend school from 2025.
The building work was completed on time at the end of 2024, so there was nothing to get in the way of the school start at the beginning of 2025. We wish “our” children much success on their new journey!
