Don-Bosco-Mondo

As the year 2025 commenced we were delighted to welcome on board a new funding partner, as committed as we are to the support of marginalised children and young people internationally.

Established back in 1980, Don Bosco Mondo supports projects run by the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco, in 130 countries.

Our collaboration in Nepal began in 2025 with the establishment of a project office to implement sustainable and effective education and development projects. From 2025 to 2028, the Aumund Foundation is also supporting a project focused on digital learning and promoting the employability of marginalized youth.

We are particularly proud of our new project with Don Bosco in Nepal: Thanks to funding from the Aumund Foundation, the diploma program in Electrical Engineering can be revived at the Don Bosco Technical Institute near Kathmandu. The three-year program prepares trainees for positions at the technician level, supervisory roles, further higher education, and employment in industry, utilities, infrastructure projects, and engineering services. Alternatively, the young people, who all come from low-income families, can complete a three-month short course in electrical engineering and subsequently have the opportunity to work as building electricians, maintenance assistants, wiring technicians, or construction electricians, or to start their own small electrical services business.

In this way, entirely in keeping with the wishes of our founder, doors are opened to a self-determined life.

“Well trained young people are the motor of society” was one of Franz-Walter Aumund’s firm beliefs, which is why funding of training and education has been one of the focal points of his philanthropic commitment from the beginning. This is underpinned in particular by the awarding of scholarships.

The best educational offering is worthless if children and young people are not physically capable of participating in it. Based on this experience the funding of health projects has become a new focus of Franz-Walter Aumund’s philanthropic commitment in recent years.
