Project: Mission hospital for Quechua people

Diospi Suyana e.V.

Contact with Diospi Suyana was made via the AUMUND agent in Peru. We were shocked by the appalling conditions in Peru during the Covid pandemic and had approached him in the summer of 2020 to ask for recommendations for eligible project partners in the health sector. One of these recommendations was the mission hospital established by Klaus Dieter and Martina John, doctors from Germany, for the descendants of the Incas in Peru, the Quechuas, who have been living in poverty for generations. Doctors from all over the world have been working here for more than 25 years as volunteers, with local support workers who are paid, to counteract the high child mortality, malnutrition and low life expectancy of this population group.

During his visits to Rheinberg in the spring of 2023 and in autumn 2024 Dr John gave us a very impressive report on the work on site, which is supported by a firm trust in God (the literal meaning “Diospi Suyana”).

Whilst we have so far been helping with the procurement of medical equipment, we have now also been able to combine the Foundation’s objectives in the areas of education and health with our future partnership with Diospi Suyana, because the Aumund Foundation is contributing to the costs of educating young Peruvian doctors at the mission hospital.
