Inter­plast Ger­many was estab­lished in 1980 fol­low­ing the model of Inter­plast USA. Oper­ating teams from 14 Ger­man sec­tors provide pro bono plastic sur­gery in devel­oping coun­tries. Patients with con­gen­ital or acquired dis­orders (for example dis­fig­ura­tions from acci­dents, burns or war injur­ies) receive aid on site. Inter­plast’s work also includes train­ing ses­sions for spe­cial­ists in the areas of hygiene, anaes­thet­ics and plastic and recon­struct­ive sur­gery.

Since 2019 we have been sup­port­ing the Duis­burg sec­tor with its main pro­ject in Erit­rea. Inter­plast car­ries out reg­ular oper­ations in the burns unit at the Halibet Hos­pital in Asmara. The vol­untary com­mit­ment of these doc­tors gives their patients the chance to start a new life.
