Project: Individual support for children from worldwide war zones and crisis areas
This special funding partner has its headquarters very close to the Aumund Foundation. Friedensdorf (“Peace Village”) International, based in Dinslaken, provides medical aid and aftercare for sick and injured children from warzones and conflict regions, who cannot be treated in their home countries. During a site visit back in 2020 we were able to gain an insight into the organisation’s work and to see how around 90 children are cared for and looked after in a peaceful environment until they are fully recovered.
Since 2025, the Aumund Foundation has been contributing to the costs of individual case assistance provided by the Peace Village in Germany: we support the performance of surgeries at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at university hospitals. These surgeries are performed on children from war zones and crisis regions with severe facial injuries, congenital malformations, or tumors, whose treatment is not possible in their home countries.
To reach more children from the Peace Village’s project countries and to relieve the burden on cooperating German hospitals, the Peace Village has operated its own outpatient procedure room since 2022. This room provides aftercare following major surgeries and allows for minor procedures to be performed. The Aumund Foundation also provides funding for this facility.
