Roedean School (SA)

Roedean School in Johannesburg, South Africa, has been one of the partner schools in our Round Square scholarship programme since 2022. On the occasion of our trip to South Africa in February 2024 we not only got to know our five scholarship recipients but also had an extensive tour of the campus. Everyone was very willing to share information and we gained a good insight into life at the Roedean boarding school, whether from the headmistress, matron, teachers or Round Square Representative.

It soon became clear to us that in addition to the excellent school education, activities outside regular lessons are also highly valued here. Art, music and sport are supported as a matter of course.

We were particularly impressed by the fact that the Round Square service concept is lived out here with great emphasis. Some of the ways in which this is put into practice are in tutoring and reading assistance for pupils with learning difficulties at other schools, providing underprivileged members of the community with vegetables and food packages, and running special campaigns such as blood donation. At Roedean school you do not have to look far for the Round Square IDEALS. They are part of everyday life.
