Aumund Foundation – Science and Research

AUMUND FOUNDATION | WHAT WE FUND

SUPPORT OF SCIENCE AND RESEARCH

“Well trained young people are the motor of society.”

(Franz-W. Aumund)

Prof. Heinrich Aumund, the founder of the company, was responsible for the reform of the technical universities at the Prussian Ministry of Science from 1920 to 1926, and worked with great commitment to achieve a stronger connection between technology and the economy. Although the ambitious reform proposals in his 1921 exposé “The University for Technology and Economics” were unsuccessful due to conflicts of interest and an unfavourable financial environment, one outcome which was achieved was the creation of the industrial engineering degree course, which still equips graduates with the important interface between technology and the economy today.

100 years after the establishment of the company Franz-Walter Aumund created a memorial to his grandfather with the “Prof. Heinrich Aumund Endowed Chair” at Berlin University of Applied Sciences. The chair, “Industrial Sensor Technology and Predictive Maintenance 4.0” represents practical and interdisciplinary research and projects the mindset of Prof. Heinrich Aumund into today’s world.

The Aumund Foundation has also been funding the “Prof. Heinrich Aumund Scholarship Programme” at Berlin University of Applied Sciences since 2023.
